Justice & Action - In Our Community

Partners In Education
St. Timothys is a partner with the Dr. Walter Cunningham School for Excellence (formerly Grant Elementary) in Waterloo. This school is located in an area of need. Ongoing ministry opportunities include: mentoring students, collecting Hy-Vee grocery store receipts, helping with periodic bake sales, and donating hats and mittens for the students in the winter.

Community Meals
Every Tuesday, a free meal is served in Scott Hall at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. St. Timothys participates with other metro churches in donating the food and serving the meal. We take our turn the third Tuesday of every other month.

Crop Walkers
- Cil Lorand
In communities across the U.S. friends and neighbors are putting their caring into action through the CROP Hunger Walk.

CROP Walk
The CROP Walk is a Church World Service project. Each year in October, walkers from St. Timothys join those from other churches to raise funds to alleviate hunger and its causes worldwide. Usually a portion of the proceeds are used for local agencies; with the rest going to worldwide needs.

Northeast Iowa Food Bank
The first Sunday of each month is designated as Food Bank Sunday. We encourage members and friends to remember the hungry in our community by donating food and non-food items or cash to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.

Iowa Heartland Habitat For Humanity
Members from St. Timothys are active supporters of Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity's objective is to provide livable, affordable housing to people who are willing to participate in the building or renovation project. The agency enables the new residents to own their homes, and the income from their mortgage payments helps build or renovate additional homes.

New City Ministries
New City Ministries is a special outreach ministry, aimed toward helping the less fortunate in the Waterloo area. One recent project is a school depot, which provides needed school supplies to children. The director of New City Ministries, along with volunteers, have been working to advocate for justice and due process with employers and legal authorities for persons who are in the country illegally and working in our area. St. Timothys assists with financial support for this ministry, and some of our members are active volunteers.
