St. Timothys Hosts Block Party July 31, 2008

Come join us on Thursday, July 31 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm when we welcome our neighbors who live in our neighborhood.

We'll cook hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill and turn on the hospitality. We will eat indoors to avoid the bugs and enjoy the air conditioning. The scheduling of our party is to coordinate with a nation-wide emphasis on having porch parties on August 1.


Supper Club - Monthly on Sunday Evenings
Once a month, everyone is invited to get together at a local restaurant for Sunday supper and fellowship. It's a time to just kick back, relax, let somebody else do the cooking, and catch up on what's been going on with each other. Participants take turns making arrangements and announcing the event. Friendship Breakfast Group - Bi-monthly on Wednesdays
This group of primarily retired persons meets for breakfast and fellowship at the Cedar Falls Happy Chef on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m.

L.A.S.T. - Life At St. Tims - Wednesday Nights
Wednesday nights through the school year offer friends of all ages to come together for a meal, fellowship, and ministry team meetings. Cost is a free-will donation to cover the expense for the food. Read more …

ASP Smorgasbords - Sunday noon, monthly, usually in early spring
High school youth who are planning their ASP mission trip frequently host smorgasbords after church to raise funds for the trip. The food is always varied and tasty. Cost is a free-will donation to the ASP project.

Neighborhood Block Party - Annually in the summer
Usually held around August 1, all St. Timothys members, friends, and people from the neighborhood are invited to come and share a potluck meal and time for fellowship.

Annual Pork Dinner - Annually in early autumn
In the fall, many volunteers from our church join forces to hold our Annual Pork Dinner. Pork loins and burgers are the traditional fare, along with baked potatoes, salads, and desserts, AND entertainment. Proceeds are used to support local organizations working toward social justice in the community.

Shrove Tuesday - Annually the Tuesday night before Lent begins
Shrove Tuesday (aka Mardi Gras) is a time when Christians prepared for the beginning of their fasting and meditation during the season of Lent. So they tried to use up the last bits of fat in their cooking. Hence the tradition of our pancake supper, along with games and merriment.
