Welcome to St. Timothys
We are helping each other learn about God's love
and grow in our personal relationships with God.
As our faith grows, we are compelled to reach out to our neighbors and
those in need, whether next door or on the other side of the world.
Our worship, education, and ministries are exciting and produce tangible
results. Social activities offer fun and purpose for all ages from toddlers to seniors.
Don't resist the urge to come to St. Timothys and see for yourself!

Shrove Tuesday Celebration - Tuesday, February 21,
5:30 to 6:30, in the Fellowship Hall at St. Timothys
The
Special Events Ministry Team invites you to a fun filled night of pancakes
and sausage, games and fellowship in celebration of Shrove Tuesday, the day before Lent
begins.
Also known as “Pancake Day”, “Fat Tuesday” and “Mardi Gras”, Shrove
Tuesday always fall on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, which is the first
day of Lent in the Christian faith. Shrove Tuesday gets its name from the
ritual of “shriving”, when the faithful confess their sins and receive
forgiveness before the Lenten season begins. Historically, Shrove Tuesday
also marked the beginning of the 40-day Lenten fasting period when the
faithful were forbidden to eat meat, butter, eggs or milk. However, if a
family had a store of these foods, they would certainly spoil by the time
the fast ended on Easter Sunday. The solution was to use up the milk, butter
and eggs along with some flour on Shrove Tuesday. The result was pancakes!
Cost is $2.00 for teens through adults, and $1.00 for children up to age
12. Tickets will be on sale following worship beginning January 29.
Ash Wednesday Worship Service - February 22 at 7:00
p.m.
Touchstones of the season: Ash Wednesday, Maundy
Thursday, Good Friday
The Lent and Easter seasons include a number of special occasions,
encouraging a full range of emotions and experiences from great solemnity
and humility to great joy and exultation. It’s amazing journey that can seem
not only exhausting but also disorienting. Some of the special occasions for
worship can offer touchstones to the season or blazes on the trail that keep
us on track. The special worship services will be linked to one another
through a number of symbolic actions as a way to give orientation to the
season as a whole. It is our hope that these services will help our faith
community feel a sense of collective journeying, travelling together on a
difficult but ultimately gracious path to new life. St. Tims Worship team.

A Reconciling Congregation
Valuing Inclusiveness and Diversity
The congregation of St Timothys United Methodist church in Cedar Falls
celebrates God's gifts as a faith community built upon the life and
teachings of Jesus Christ. We are called and strive to be an open,
loving, and caring congregation; to proclaim Jesus' love and justice
to all; and to live out God's unending love through the inclusiveness
and welcoming of all persons, including those of all sexual orientations
and gender identities. Read more…
"Reconciling" is the term used by many in the United Methodist Church
to describe their welcome and inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual and
transgender (LGBT) persons into the full life of the church. St.
Timothys is a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN), a growing
movement of United Methodist individuals, congregations, campus ministries,
and other groups working for the full participation of all people in the
Church.
Growing It Forward - Our 2012
Stewardship Emphasis

We don’t want to just survive, we want to live!
In October, we kicked off our annual stewardship campaign by viewing the
movie, WALL-E. The people in the movie broke
free of their normal habits and automated routines to begin stronger and
more meaningful relationships with each other. They began restoring and
growing the earth toward a sustainable future.
Your financial pledge is but one part of our Growing
It Forward campaign. You have already completed another part in
October, when you committed to be in ministry through St. Timothys on your
Time/Talents/Passions survey.
We would also like you to consider prayerfully how you can support the many
ministries of St. Timothys locally and far away by your financial gifts.
Listen! For Your Inspiration and Mediation -
Worship Stewardship Moments
As disciples of Jesus it is our privilege to build God's kindom on
earth through our gifts and our talents and our passion to "Grow It Forward"
in love, trust, generosity, and mission. What role will you play in helping
it grow with a sustainable future?
Share Your Gifts of Time, Talent, and Passions
Here at St. Timothys we believe that every person is a minister with
important ministries to carry out. So we are asking everyone to
prayerfully think about how we can best share the many gifts God has given
us.
This year we are trying something new. We have completely re-vamped our
traditional Time and Talent brochure, and encourage you to use our new,
online tool to communicate and commit to sharing your gifts of time, talent,
and passions.
Please fill out your form as soon as possible. Even though the
"deadline" is past, we still want to hear from you!
